Prince William Campus

George Mason University’s 124-acre Prince William campus, located about 30 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., is a major contributor to competitive and pioneering academic, research, and business activities. Opened in 1997 in close proximity to technology giants such as Lockheed Martin Federal Systems, Comcast Communications, and SAIC, the Prince William campus includes the Biomedical Research Laboratory (BRL), the newest of only 13 regional biocontainment laboratories built through grants from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a part of the National Institutes of Health. This $50 million, high-security facility houses 20,000 square feet of lab space that is committed to addressing threats of bioterrorism and emerging infectious diseases.

Educational programs at the Prince William campus focus on a wide range of professional studies, including information technology, biotechnology, geographic information systems, recreation and fitness management, business, and education, among others.

The Prince William campus also boasts the new $46-million Hylton Performing Arts Center. A joint venture of George Mason University, Prince William County, and the City of Manassas, Virginia. The center includes a 1,121-seat opera house, a 270-seat flexible seating theater, and The Buchanan Partners Art Gallery.
