At the College of Science, we believe that a well-rounded and successful science major also has completed studies in a broad range of courses from the humanities and the social sciences. George Mason University calls this foundation general education. But these studies are anything but general as you learn to explore your world and see science through a variety of lenses and experiences.
You can fulfill general education requirements by selecting independent courses or by enrolling in one of our general education programs. You build on this foundation with in-depth study in a major.
Round out your major by choosing a minor or certificate program. Mason students must complete at least 120 credits to graduate, including:
- University general education requirements
- Specific requirements of majors
- Remaining credits as a combination of electives, a minor, or a certificate.
At least 45 credits must come from upper–level courses (numbered 300 or above). Please consult the catalog for additional requirements, including those specific to the College of Science Bachelor of Arts degrees, minors, and certificates.
Explore The Mason Course Catalog for course information. Older class schedules are availble.
