About
Dr. Ransom is an adjunct faculty member for the Environmental Science and Policy department who teaches online courses remotely from Chiang Mai, Thailand where he currently lives. His research focuses on the intersection of sustainable development and climate change adaptation among urban poor in developing countries. His dissertation research explored the role local innovation played in developing and disseminating fuel-efficient cookstoves by informal manufacturers and through informal markets in Nairobi, Kenya.
He is also co-founder and CEO of Siamaya Chocolate, a small company in Thailand that uses local Thai cacao and ingredients to make artisanal chocolate bars. His studies in environmental science and sustainability inform the goals of his company as he works with local cacao producers to ensure more opportunities for sustainable farming.
