Title: The Symplectic Nature of Noncentral Reducible Representations in SU(2) Character Variety
Abstract: I will introduce my latest work, using an explicit example, the representation of the fundamental group of a closed surface of genus greater than or equal to 2, into SU(2), to investigate the deformation space of the representation variety at a type of singular points, reducible but noncentral representations, and explore the geometric structure of the corresponding stratum in the representation variety and the character variety. The stratum of the type (U(1)) in the character variety is symplectic. Such a symplectic structure fits in the ambient representation variety, where the top stratum of smooth points admits the Narasimhan-Atiyah-Bott-Goldman symplectic structure.
