Professor Sohyun Park Receives Research Grant from National Research Foundation of Korea

Dr. Sohyun Park, an assistant professor of Computational and Data Sciences at Mason Korea, recently received a grant from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) funded by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

The grant will fund Dr. Park’s research project, “Land use dynamics in a rural area: a spatial model combining residential mobility data with satellite imagery interpretation.” The interdisciplinary project attempts to link human dynamics with environmental changes to better manage land in rural areas by applying spatial data analytic techniques to a variety of datasets including satellite imagery and socioeconomic data.

“I am looking forward to working with student research assistants who are interested in the project, and I am also very excited about constructing a data depository that can possibly be utilized by the Mason Korea community,” said Dr. Sohyun Park.

Dr. Park has been awarded 75 M KRW over a span of 2.5 years for her research project.
