"I AM" Biology Peers Mentoring program is a new program presented by Biology professor Dr. Valerie Olmo. The purpose of this program is to pair incoming Freshman students with experienced Juniors and Seniors who have been there, done that! These junior and senior peer mentors have overcome the challenges of transitioning from high school to college life as a biology major.

Now that they have made it, peer mentors are here to help you make the most of your first-year Biology experience.

  • Meet one-on-one with your peer mentor to discuss your progress weekly.
  • Get advice about how and where to get academic or student support help if you need it.
  • Help you start to integrate into university life activities and programming.
  • Join a community of scholars that lets you know you are welcomed and wanted.

If you'd like more information on the I AM Biology Peers Mentoring program, contact Dr. Valerie Olmo at volmo@gmu.edu. Details on the application coming soon.
