I am interested in genomes and chromosomes that behave in unexpected ways, particularly among plants. I study polyploidy, the presence of more than two genome copies per cell, and how it affects the ecology and evolution of plants and, more broadly, all eukaryotes. Because of this broad interest, my work also crosses over into invasive species, mating system evolution, reproductive isolation, and pollinator behavior
