Dr. Onderko has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Penn State University, where her work focused on elucidating the factors governing Cytochrome P450 catalysis, an enzyme that is a key player in many natural product synthesis pathways. As a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the Naval Research Laboratory, she worked with a biofilm-forming marine bacterium, Marinobacter atlanticus. As part of her work at NRL, she co-invented the biofilm bioreactor technology that is being commercialized by the start-up company she co-founded, Capra Biosciences, Inc.
