About
Dr. Michelle Ryan is a PhD graduate of GMU’s Environmental Science and Policy Department where she conducted research on the non-native snail species Bellamya spp. found within the Potomac and Occoquan River watersheds. Her doctoral research included spatial analysis with key water quality metrics and a histological analysis of the snails for morphological variation. Michelle has more than two decades worth of experience in environmental citizen science projects within the greater Mid-Atlantic region. She has completed her Master Naturalist certification through the Virginia Master Naturalist Program. Michelle also serves as a Member-At-Large in the GMU College of Science Alumni Chapter. Michelle’s professional experience includes consultations on federal environmental remediation projects, and she has more than 25 years of experience working in the federal contracting industry.
