About
How do cells work and what roles do membrane proteins play? My work has focused on the biophysics of ion channels and how they help cells and organelles function. I trained in structural biology and spectroscopy of ion channels and voltage sensors at the University of Chicago in Dr. Eduardo Perozo’s laboratory. I conducted postdoctoral research with Dr. David Clapham at both Boston Children’s Hospital and HHMI’s Janelia Research Campus. There I combined structural and functional approaches with super-resolution microscopy and proteomics to investigate TRP channels, their regulation and contributions to cellular signaling.
Current Research
• Understanding the role of ion channels and membrane proteins in primary cilia function.
• Understanding how AI can be used (uplift) in ion channel and membrane protein studies and genetically encoded sensor design
