About
Dr. Chiari’s research uses an integrative approach to understand patterns and processes in vertebrate ecology and evolution. Her work uncovers the drivers of morphological evolution, the relationship between morphology and behavior, the factors influencing species responses to disturbance, and the molecular basis of of variation in longevity, cancer and aging in animals. Dr. Chiari’s work combines multiple disciplines, including evolutionary biology, morphometrics and functional morphology, genomics and genetics, behavioral ecology, field ecology, and mathematical modeling. Dr. Chiari is also collaborating with science communicators to improve science literacy and promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM. Dr. Chiari currently teaches the intro course in Genetics and a project and lab-based course in Molecular Ecology.
