Earth Day Event: Special Talk on the Paris Climate Agreement – April 14, 2016

At this event, Eliza Northrop, an Associate at the World Resources Institute, will provide an overview of the Paris Climate Agreement based on her policy advisory experience during the negotiation process. Her speech will particularly highlight the significance of the Paris Agreement for the Global South and the international policy community’s ongoing efforts for the implementation of the Paris Agreement.

Eliza Northrop is an Associate in the International Climate Action Initiative at World Resources Institute (WRI). She is an international environmental lawyer with expertise in climate change, indigenous rights and governance. Her work focuses primarily on international climate law and policy issues, in particular the design and implementation of the Paris Agreement. In the lead up to COP21 last year, Eliza worked with a number of developing countries including Uganda and Ethiopia, to develop and communicate their intended nationally determined contributions. Prior to joining WRI, Eliza has acted as a legal advisor to the Kingdom of Tonga for the United Nations General Assembly, and was originally a negotiator and policy advisor for the resolution of native title in Australia.
