Following the first Departmental Retreat in some time, during which ESP faculty began the process of visioning the future of the department, faculty, graduate students, staff, and representatives of the office of the Dean of the College of Science enjoyed the ambiance of the patio at the Potomac Science Center in Woodbridge for a social event in September.

The festivities began with recognition of some of the department’s biggest donors, longest-serving staff and faculty, and special announcements, such as professor and PEREC director Chris Jones being awarded the Virginia Academy of Science Environmental Scientist Award for 2024.
