Fall 2020-Summer 2021 Catherine and Richard Becker Graduate Research Fellowship

Update: Please be aware that the application form was updated on February 11, 2020 and the one available below is the one you should be using.

APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

Two Graduate Research Fellowships will be awarded to Master’s students for the academic year 2020-2021. The Fellowship enables a more inclusive graduate academic experience – incorporating learning, teaching and research – by providing more opportunities for Environmental Science and Policy (ESP) graduate students to serve as Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs). Both fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis.

Applicants must submit all materials via email to Stephanie Lister in the ESP Graduate Program Office at slister1@gmu.edu by 5 pm, Monday, March 2, 2020.

Quotes from past Becker’s Fellows on how this Fellowship supported them:

Heather Davies (2018)

“The financial assistance provided by this grant enabled me to undertake two special opportunities to learn how to perform field survey work with bats, as well as travel to Borneo to present at the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation annual meeting.”

Jessamine Melton (2019)

“With the additional time that this grant has allowed me, I have also been able to explore additional statistical analyses to use within my thesis, that would have been extremely difficult, or impossible to accomplish if I had the time constraint of being a Graduate Teaching Assistant. I will also be giving an oral presentation at the Atlantic Estuarine Research Society conference that will be held April 4-6 at the Potomac Science Center.”
