Farewell to ESP Retirees: Dr. Robert Jonas, Dr. Albert Torzilli, and Sharon Bloomquist
The Department of Environmental Science and Policy bade farewell to new retirees Dr. Robert Jonas, Dr. Albert Torzilli and Sharon Bloomquist at the end of the spring 2018 semester.
Before retiring, Dr. Robert Jonas was Associate Professor and Department Chair (until 2016), Dr. Albert Torzilli was Associate Professor and Director of the Graduate Program, and Sharon Bloomquist was the Graduate Program Manager. They will be greatly missed.
All three were honored for their long (93 years total between the three!) and dedicated service to the University at the recent 2018 Awards Ceremony Breakfast on May 16, 2018 which also honored departmental student award winners of the 2017-18 academic year. The awards celebration is held jointly by the Department of Biology, Department of Environmental Science & Policy, and the School of Systems Biology every year in May following the end of the spring semester. It is a well-attended event that includes departmental faculty and staff as well as the family and friends of the student award winners.
To send our recent retirees off properly, a festive shindig was held at the new Potomac Science Center in Woodbridge on May 19, 2018. We wish them all a happy retirement!
