Join CLIM 759: Atmospheric Convection! 

Do you know the name of the clouds? Can you tell one type of cloud from another?

Not a drop of rain or snowflake or a single hailstone will fall from the sky unless first a cloud is formed. But how is a cloud formed?

Cloud shapes tell us whether the air is bumpy or smooth. Cloud movements tell us where the air is flowing and how fast. Cloud presence or absence can tell us where the moisture is. But how you can learn about the atmosphere from the clouds?

At any given moment, about two-thirds of our planet is covered by clouds. What about when you look at the effects of this cloudiness?
