Medical Degree Preparatory Program

Military Members

In the fall semester of 2014, the College of Science at George Mason University and the Uniformed Services University of Health Services (USU) embarked on a unique partnership to provide an intensive two-year educational experience to highly qualified active-duty military members in order to prepare them for acceptance into medical school. May 2019 marked the fourth cohort's completion of the Enlisted to Medical Degree Preparatory Program (EMDP2) and the cohort included individuals from all four branches of the U.S. military.

"In the past five years, the medical school admission rate has exceeded 90 percent which is a true testament to this program as well as our amazing students," said Donna Fox, College of Science Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Special Programs.

The success of this innovative program demonstrates that a group of talented, intelligent, and outstanding active-duty military members with a completed bachelor's degree in any field of study can, through hard work and discipline, focus their trajectories toward a successful career in military medicine.
