Why:
A massive scale-up in forest protection in the United States is critical to solving the climate crisis and providing a safety net for communities against extreme weather events. The US leads the world in the production and consumption of wood products with logging rates in the Southeastern region alone four times that of the South American rainforest. Yet forest protection is not currently seen as a national climate priority, and logging is often promoted as a climate solution.
