What:

Renowned climate scientist and Tufts University Professor Emeritus, Dr. William Moomaw, and Danna Smith, the co-founder of Dogwood Alliance, a leading forest conservation organization in the Southern US, will present findings from their joint report The Great American Stand: US Forests and the Climate Emergency and explore solutions with an audience Q & A.

Why:

A massive scale-up in forest protection in the United States is critical to solving the climate crisis and providing a safety net for communities against extreme weather events. The US leads the world in the production and consumption of wood products with logging rates in the Southeastern region alone four times that of the South American rainforest. Yet forest protection is not currently seen as a national climate priority, and logging is often promoted as a climate solution.
