Sayas Numerics Day

George Mason University's Center for Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence (CMAI) was one of the organizers for 2022’s Sayas (formerly DelMar) Numerics Day. On Saturday, September 17, GMU joined University of Maryland College Park, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and University of Delaware in hosting this meeting on research in computational mathematics. The purpose of this annual meeting is to connect researchers of computational mathematics in VA, MD, DC, DE and adjacent areas and to provide opportunities to students, postdocs and other early career researchers. Karen Willcox (University of Texas at Austin) gave the keynote talk: “Beyond Forward Simulations: From Reduced-order Models to Digital Twins with Computational Science.” Sayas Numerics Day is named in honor of Francisco Javier Sayas who, in addition to his many other achievements, played a key role in establishing and running DelMar Numerics Day, and was dedicated to its mission of giving especially younger mathematicians an opportunity to share their work.
