Screening of The Anthropologist documentary well received

Anthropologist Screening 3 (PDF flyer)

The jointly sponsored Feb. 24, 2016 screening of the top-ten, must-see Indiewire documentary, “The Anthropologist” in the JC Cinema was very well-received.  The problem of climate change is real, and there is nothing like seeing it on film to spread awareness.

The film is an in-depth look at climate change through 3 field trips to visit indigenous communities (in Siberia, Kiribati Islands, and Peru) taken by anthropologist and ESP associate professor Dr. Susan Crate and her teenage daughter. The documentary following mother and daughter is also interspersed with archival images and video footage from pioneering anthropologist Margaret Mead, shown during interview clips with Mead’s own daughter Mary Catherine Bateson, herself a former Robinson Professor at Mason.

Dr. Crate also held a post-screening Q&A session.
