21st Century climate change is having irrevocable effects not only on global ecosystems, weather patterns, and biodiversity but also on the planet’s cultural diversity.

George Mason University Department of Environmental Science and Policy Professor and Anthropologist Susan Crate will share her work with Viliui Sakha of northeastern Siberia, Russia to illustrate the power of the anthropological toolkit to not only document human-environment interactions but also to facilitate community-based knowledge and ongoing adaptation to unprecedented change.

This event is part of the Library’s celebration of the American Library Association’s Preservation Week (April 22-28) which aims to connect communities through events, activities, and resources that highlight what we can do, individually and together, to preserve our personal and shared collections.
