The Yang-Mills Flow and Moduli Spaces

Speaker: Richard Wentworth, University of Maryland

Title: The Yang-Mills Flow and Moduli Spaces

Abstract: The Yang-Mills equations have played an important role in physics in mathematics for nearly 50 years. In the first part of this talk I will survey some recently established aspects of the behavior of the gradient flow associated to the Yang-Mills functional in both the Riemannian and Kaehler situations. In the second part of the talk, I will describe recent work on the structure of compactifications of the moduli space of Hermitian-Yang-Mills connections in higher dimensions.

Time: Friday, April 27, 2018, 3:30-4:20 p.m.

Place: Exploratory Hall, room 4106

Refreshments will be served at 3:00 p.m.
