Mason Energy | A College of Science Initiative
Mason Energy is a new innovative initiative of the College of Science that will expand expertise in the field of renewable energy.
Through engagement, analysis, research partnerships, workforce development, and commercialization Mason Energy will work with internal and external partners in the following areas:
Internal Activities:
- Engaging with faculty across the university who have interests in the field of renewable energy
- Leading and contributing to research proposals in areas such as solar, wind, biomass, climate mitigation, and energy-efficient electricity grids
- Developing coursework and curriculum materials in the area of renewable energy.
- Enhancing the visibility of the university and building partnerships focused on renewable energy through engagement and events. Partners include media, energy trade groups, professional organizations, and government/non-profit renewable energy-focused groups.
External Activities:
- Identifying and convening a diverse coalition of leaders from electric utilities, clean technologies, federal, state, and local government entities, foundations, and investors.
- Partnering with sponsors to create professional educational events with leaders in the renewable energy sector.
