About
Professor Weldon is a forensic death investigator with a long-standing passion for human anatomy, anthropology, and the science of death. She began her career at the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office in Syracuse, New York, where she worked as an autopsy technician. From there, she spent more than a decade serving as the investigative supervisor for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Manassas, Virginia, and also worked part-time as a forensic investigator for the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Prince George’s County.
As of 2023, Professor Weldon serves with the Fairfax County Police Department’s Major Crimes Bureau as the Commonwealth’s first Civilian Death Investigator.
Professor Weldon has been an adjunct instructor at Le Moyne College, Northern Virginia Community College, and, since 2017, at George Mason University. She enjoys guest lecturing and sharing her expertise with students, law enforcement agencies, and professional organizations throughout the National Capital Region. She presents annually for both the Virginia Homicide Investigators Association (VHIA) and the FBI’s National Academy. Professor Weldon has been a member of the Forensic Science Research and Training Laboratory’s Donor Response Team since its inception in 2021.
