About
Dr. Sarah Ward joined the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry in August 2021 as an Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry, after completing an instructional position at Warren Wilson College (Swannanoa, NC).
Dr. Ward’s dissertation research, completed under the guidance of Prof. David R. Williams, focused on synthetic organic chemistry----- examining the total synthesis of marine natural products, with cytotoxic properties against human colon carcinoma. She has experience teaching undergraduate courses (Organic Chemistry I & II lectures, Organic I & I labs, and General Chemistry I lecture; Survey of Organic Chemistry, Advanced Organic Chemistry) and graduate level Natural Product Synthesis.
Dr. Ward earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (2019) from Indiana University (Bloomington, IN). She also holds a B.S. in Chemistry (2012), with a minor in Mathematics, from Western Kentucky University
