Title: Chern classes and exotic G-manifolds
Abstract: Smooth structures on manifolds have been a central part of geometric topology ever since Milnor discovered exotic 7-spheres. Kirby-Siebenmann showed that high dimensional closed manifolds have only finitely many smooth structures. One can ask whether an analogue of Kirby-Siebenmann's result holds in the equivariant setting. In this talk, I will discuss a construction of equivariant smooth structures for G-manifolds and how the cohomology of the fixed set can give rise to infinitely many equivariant smooth structures.
