Title:  Lipschitz estimates in Operator Ideals

Abstract:   In this talk aimed at a general mathematical audience I will give an overview of the ~70 century old program to estimate operator moduli of continuity and characterize operator differentiability. This topic brings together matrix theory and real analysis and has many applications.
