AOES Professor Shukla to kick off Mason Vision Series

On Monday, September 27,  Dr. Jagadish Shukla will kick off this semester’s  Mason Vision Series, a monthly forum for the Office of the Provost to showcase the research and scholarship that takes place every day at Mason.  It is an opportunity for invited Mason faculty members to share the frontiers of their work in an accessible style that also inspires lively discussion among students, faculty, staff, and the wider reaches of the community.

Dr. Shukla, a University Professor and Managing Director of the Center for Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Studies (COLA), will address Climate Change: Science, Politics and Ethics. In his presentation, Dr. Shukla will focus on the physical science of climate change, while emphasizing that to truly address this issue, one also must understand the many social, economic, ethical, political, and social justice challenges it presents.

The Mason Vision Series will be held both in person (Merten 1201) and live streamed through GMU-TV beginning at 7:00 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in the discussion by submitting questions via email (GMUProv@gmu.edu) or Twitter by using #VisionSeriesMason.
