Tip-Toeing Back to Campus

The AOES faculty/student picture-hanging team poses in front of their work.  They are holding their tools, some of which are of somewhat dubious utility.

With Mason rules (and CDC guidance) now allowing unmasked in-person interaction for people who have received the Covid-19 vaccine, George Mason faculty, staff, and students are tip-toeing back towards the long-awaited Post-Pandemic campus experience.

As one step towards normalcy, last Thursday AOES held its weekly tea & cookies get-together in person for the first time in over a year.  This summer, tea will be via zoom and in-person on different days.

The first-person tea time doubled as a picture-hanging party.  Earlier, faculty and students selected photos of the outdoors to liven up the hallway alcove where tea, lunches, and study sessions occur.  The oversize canvases arrived during spring break, 2020 – just in time for Mason to close campus due to Covid.  After about 15 months, the pictures are finally on the wall. Pictures were originally taken in Europe by climate scientist, Climate Dynamics Doctoral Program alumna, and photographer Ioana Colfescu.

For the upcoming Fall semester, AOES faculty are planning a mix of in-person and remote classes, seminars, and other events.
