Join the Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia; and the Mid-Atlantic HERC (Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia) for a virtual Coffee Hour on: Mentoring Faculty. REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
Participants will hear from Mrs. Shelly Sherman, M.Ed., CSM, SHRM-SCP, Senior Director of Talent Management for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center; and Dr. Milagros Rivera, Director of Faculty Diversity, Inclusion, and Well-Being in the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development at George Mason University, as they discuss successes and challenges from the mentors and mentees perspective. This time has been set aside to benefit you in advancing your knowledge in mentoring and being mentored. We hope you will attend.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
Shelly Sherman, M.Ed., CSM, SHRM-SCP
Shelly S. Sherman is currently the Senior Director of Talent Management for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She has been a Human Resources professional for more than 25 years in a variety of capacities including Talent Acquisition, Organizational Effectiveness and Talent Management. In addition to healthcare, she has worked in a variety of industries including financial services, consumer packaged goods, and higher education. Shelly is also a sought-after human resources consultant for her expertise in leveraging multi-generational workforces, employee engagement and mentoring.
Shelly received her Bachelor of Arts degree, with a concentration in Psychology, from the University of Cincinnati and her Master of Education degree, with a concentration in Human Resource Development, from Xavier University.
Shelly is a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In that organization she is the immediate past President of the Cincinnati, Ohio graduate chapter. She is also a member of The Links, Incorporated. An avid supporter of the arts, Shelly is a Board Member Emerita of the Cincinnati Ballet, where she previously serviced as Vice President of the Human Resources Committee and on the Steering Committee for the Leading Ladies of Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Shelly has been recognized as a YMCA Black Achiever, in Who’s Who in Black Cincinnati and as part of 100 Wise Women.
Shelly is married to Ernie Greene, a retired Covington Firefighter. They have three adult children and eight grandchildren.
Dr. Milagros (Millie) Rivera
Dr. Milagros (Millie) Rivera is the Director of Faculty Diversity, Inclusion, and Well-Being in the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development at George Mason University. She leads university-wide efforts to develop, implement and strengthen institutional initiatives that seek to recruit, hire and retain a diverse faculty.
Before joining Mason, Dr Rivera was a Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication Science at the University of the Free State (UFS) in South Africa, where she also held the role of Acting Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. During her tenure at UFS, she championed the ethnic and racial transformation of her department and set up programs to support Black/African academics succeed in tenure and promotion.
Prior to living and working in South Africa, Dr Rivera spent 10 1/2 years at the National University of Singapore, where she was the founding chair of the Department of Communications and New Media (CNM). She led the department to being ranked third best in the world (World Rankings by Subject, 2012). Prior to moving overseas, Dr Rivera was a faculty member at the University of Florida and Indiana University, Bloomington. Dr Rivera is married and resides in Virginia.
