College of Science Degree Celebration

Staff Volunteer Information
Help us celebrate and support our graduates on one of the most important days of their academic journey! We’re looking for volunteers to assist during the commencement ceremony and post-event celebration. Opportunities include event setup and breakdown, assembling graduate gift bags, guiding late-arriving students to their seats, assisting at information booths, and more.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please email cosevent@gmu.edu to sign up.
Arrival and Schedule
Volunteer shifts will begin at 4:30 p.m. and end around 8:30 p.m. Please block these times on your calendar.
Volunteers should check in at the EagleBank Arena green room located through the east entrance (administrative offices).
Staff Volunteer Attire
White blouse or shirt
Black slacks (no shorts or jeans)
Comfortable shoes there will be a lot of standing)
Volunteer Pre-Event Meeting
A staff volunteer meeting will be held via Teams on May 7 at 1:30 p.m. to discuss event details and duties. The meeting link will be sent to volunteers directly.
Faculty Volunteer Information

Arrival and Schedule:
Faculty should arrive by 5:30 p.m. in regalia to the EagleBank Arena green room located through the east entrance (Administrative Offices). Instructions for the processional will be provided upon arrival. Faculty Marshals will check in by 5 p.m. with a college staff member at the ‘Marshal Check-In’ sign, where you will be provided with an instruction sheet and a seating chart for departmental arrangements in the arena.”
Faculty Volunteer Attire
Whether you serve as a marshal or participate in the procession, all faculty volunteers are required to wear regalia. If you plan to attend both the University Commencement and the College of Science Degree Celebration, the university will cover the cost of regalia rental. Regalia must be reserved by Friday, April 10, 2026. Please visit the university bookstore or email sm366@bncollege.com to place your order.
Participating with Doctoral Graduate
Please reply to University Marshal Janette Muir, jmuir@gmu.edu, to acknowledge that you intend to participate in the ceremony with your doctoral candidate.
