Pathways in Science
Learn and lead the way to a fantastic first year at George Mason University with the Pathways in Science program. Build early connections with research faculty and explore STEM internship and research opportunities, both at George Mason and beyond.
Join us for off-campus adventures, fun, “stressbuster” events, plus serve your community and build leadership skills by engaging in our annual citizen science challenge. Our mandatory course, COS 100 (1 credit) prepares you for the rigorous expectations of today’s STEM majors while paving your pathway to the STEM professions of tomorrow.
The Pathways in Science program is open to first-year students pursuing a major or minor in the College of Science and who are not participating in the Mason Science Residential Learning Community (RLC).* Special consideration is given to students who are living off-campus or in selected on-campus settings (Honors RLC, etc.), as well as participants from Mason’s Student Transition Empowerment Program (STEP) or the College of Science STEM Bridge Experience.
Questions? Contact Kerin Hilker-Balkissoon, Director of Educational and Career Pathways at khilkerb@gmu.edu.
*Mason Science Residential Learning Community participants automatically receive access to all Pathways in Science programs and events.
