Congratulations Rebecca GoldinEarle C. Williams Presidential Medal for Faculty Excellence in Social Impact
Congratulations to Dr. Rebecca Goldin on receiving the 2025 Earle C. Williams Presidential Medal for Faculty Excellence in Social Impact. One of Mason’s highest faculty honors, this prestigious award recognizes exceptional scholarship that addresses real-world challenges, fosters community engagement, and creates lasting, positive change.
Dr. Goldin is internationally recognized for her leadership in advancing statistical literacy, particularly among journalists. Through her global initiative connecting the scientific community with the media, she has authored over 100 articles, appeared on major news platforms including CNN, NPR, ABC News, and PBS, and delivered talks at renowned conferences and mathematics festivals.
Her contributions extend far beyond academia. Dr. Goldin has been deeply involved in local volunteer work and public advocacy. She was honored with the Association for Women in Mathematics Service Award in 2013 for her efforts to educate and empower women and girls in mathematics. In 2019, she was named a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, a rare distinction awarded for her groundbreaking work in differential geometry and her dedication to public mathematical and statistical education.
Dr. Goldin’s career is a powerful testament to Mason’s mission of producing scholarship that not only advances knowledge but also transforms lives and communities.

Congratulations to Catherine Sausville - Feb. 14, 2024
#FacultyFriday featured Department of Mathematical Sciences , for earning the Dean's Engagement Award. Catherine Sausville embodies all the true values of a Patriot, going above and beyond, serving in Mason’s Faculty Senate for several terms, and volunteering for many strategic planning committees in addition to being in charge of the department’s undergraduate committee and the extremely busy Math Testing Center.

SIAM is excited to announce the 2024 Class of MGB-SIAM Early Career Fellows. These accomplished early career professionals were chosen based on their achievements; active support of diversity, equity, and inclusion in their communities; and dedication to industrial and applied mathematics, computational science, and data science.
Dr. Emmanuel Fleurantin is an NSF Mathematical and Physical Sciences Ascending Postdoctoral Fellow at George Mason University. As a mathematician he specializes in applied dynamical systems, computational mathematics, and data assimilation.
