College of Science faculty recognized by students through Thank-A-Teacher Program
Student appreciation for College of Science faculty continues to grow.
This year, 82 College of Science faculty members were recognized through George Mason University’s 10th annual Thank-A-Teacher Program, led by the Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning. The annual program gives students an opportunity to thank faculty who have inspired, guided, encouraged, and supported them throughout their academic journey.
The number of Mason Science faculty recognized through the program has increased over the past three academic years, rising from 71 in AY 2022-23 to 77 in AY 2023-24 and 82 in AY 2024-25.
Student messages highlighted the many ways Mason Science faculty make a difference, from helping challenging concepts click to creating supportive classrooms and reminding students they are capable of succeeding.
Here’s what students had to say:
“THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TEACHING MATH!!! I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed math this much in my entire life. I may have struggled a little, but the struggle was worth it at the end of the day! Thank you for bringing back the joy in math.”
“How we have loved your class, your decades of experience and many stories made Tuesday and Thursdays the best part of the week. We appreciated everything you did for our cohort.”
“Your encouragement and understanding truly made a difference in my academic journey. Your guidance not only helped me navigate the course material but also inspired me to persevere in the face of adversity.”
“I never thought I would have been able to get an A in a course as difficult as biochemistry. Your help allowed me to excel in this course, and I am forever grateful.”
To all our dedicated Mason Science faculty: thank you for helping students feel supported, capable, and inspired.
